  • BUCKLES 40TH RUN webIt's been four decades since they burst onto the Australian rock and roll scene, and Pismo Beach’s own Psychotic Turnbuckles are descending Down Under for a three-state tour.

With three albums and a dozen singles and EPs to their credit, the Turnbuckles are still The World Rock and Roll Tag Team Champions and retained their crown on a Japanese tour that included an appearance at the world-famous Tokyo Halloween Ball.

The 40 Years Undefeated Tour will take on the Tote in Melbourne on Saturday, June 29 for their only Victorian show, presented by The I-94 Bar.

Guests on this leg are Sydney’s glam kings Starcrazy and Melbourne’s retro sound champions The Vibrajets.

  • Sydney's finest purveyors of glam alt-rock, Starcrazy, are back with a hard hitting, hard rock rendition of ABBA's, “S.O.S”' and have given I-94 Bar first look at the brand new music video, which is due for release on streaming channels tomorrow. You can pre-save it here.

You can catch the band live at The Lady Hampshire in Sydney on Saturday, September 23 along with local up and comers, MayeflowerThe Polymics and DEDPAN. Tickets are here.

In only a few years since forming, Starcrazy have sold out multiple electrifying shows, released two independant EPs, received ongoing radio airplay from Alice Cooper, opened for world class artists (such as The Animals, Faster Pussycat, Wednesday 13Chris Klondike Masuak and Hard-Ons), and even performed on national television!

Lead singer, Marcus Fraser, says of the new single:" We've always been into anything 70's and decided to incorporate a rocked up version of ‘SOS’ into our live set.

“It took a little patience learning the three-part vocal harmonies and transposing the piano part to guitar but audiences have been super responsive so we decided to record it in the studio. It's really fun putting our own spin on a classic pop tune.

“We added a completely new backing vocal part in the last chorus written by our bassist, Jack Barratt."

The music video was filmed and directed by John Flaws and edited by their very own, Jack Barratt. It pays homage to the original ABBA video from 1975 with crazy spinning camera effects and unique mirrored close ups of the band members.

top tenI've decided to go with my Top 10 Concerts of 2023 since there were so many great ones! In chronological order...

    1. TURNSTILE at The Enmore Theatre (Syd) - Feb 16:
After getting heavily into their latest album, 'Glow On' (A unique mix of NYC style crossover Thrash Metal and Dream Pop), I was extremely excited to see them live. The hype around this band at the time was palpable and they did not disappoint. Blood pumping guitar riffage, delay soaked vocals and absolutely insane drumming, they put on one of the most intense performances I've ever seen, ripper show! Highlights included "Don't Play", "Holiday" and "Drop".

First, I’ll get the rant out of the way. I’ve spent more time working with younger bands this year and there seem to be a few issues…

Firstly, there are so many new young bands that they can’t find gigs… especially appropriate ones. The King Street strip in Sydney’s Newtown and surrounds has about eight venues and on any given night there are only up to 50 people in each room.

  • marcus 2021My name is Marcus Fraser and I'm the singer in Sydney band STARCRAZY.

In another rollercoaster thunderfuck of a year, these are the tunes that kept me grounded and positive. Some of these artists I'm proud to call my friends and I'm SO stoked on all the amazing music coming out of Australia, Oi Oi Oi!

    In no particular order:

    1. Molly & The Krells - Silver & Gold
    2. Pond - America's Cup
    3. Arianne Gozzing - The New Queen
    4. Thunder Fox - Not For Sale
    5. Smoke Stack Rhino - Ultraviolet
    6. Alpha Goose - Why Not
    7. Amyl and The Sniffers - Guided By Angels
    8. Geese - Low Era
    9. Astrodeath - Invasion
    10. Lucid Hoops - Kinder Company
