US-based punk-metal duo-turned-trio BugGIRL! are heading home to play a handful of shows in Australia in February and unleash a new album.

Hailing from Wollongong, south of Sydney, BugGIRL! will play their first local shows in four years - including one in The Gong.

Their full-length, “Lesbians For Satan”. was recorded in their home studio ("The Quivering Ghoul Inn") in Austin, Texas. Tony Reed (Saint Vitus, Seedy Jeezus) has mixed and mastered the album.

The album is being released digitally via Impedance Records with vinyl and CD pressings to follow.

Since leaving Oz, The Buggers have toured the world twice and are packing a bassist in Texan bassist Heather Webb, who’s been part of the line-up since 2010.

BugGiRL ! will return home to Austin in March to host the 2nd annual “Heavy Metal Pool Party” for SXSW, also presented by Wacken Open Air. Last year’s festival featured bands Kadavar, Gypsyhawk, D-A-D, Hell’s Belles, Crucified Barbara, Crash Diet, and Speedozer.

Three of their Aussie dates will be with fellow Wollongong lovers of hot and heavy sounds, Babymachine.
