5678S PORTRAIT
Tokyo's rockin' all-girl retro riot The 5.6.7.8's have released a new 'Best of' LP on local label Cheersquad for their Australian tour starting this week, with Sydney and two Melbourne shows already solfd out.

The house fuill sign went uop on Sydney's Thursday show (with Psychotic Turnbuckles and Cheetah Beat) and it's the same story with Melbourne shows at The Tote (March 25) and The Last Chance (March 26).  Gigs in Brisbane, Beechworth and Hobart are selling fast.

“Best Hits of The 5.6.7.8's” features 14 tracks selected by the band to represent some of their fave recordings. It includes an alternative recording of "Woo Hoo" as featured in “Kill Bill Vol. 1”.  The album is available here.

Kickin' off in 1986, sisters Yoshiko “Ronnie” Fujiyama and Sachiko have been the beating heart of this outfit. For this tour down under, they're bringing along their long-time friend Akiko Omo on bass. Their name is snagged from classic music counts, but these gals ain't just about numbers.

They're smashin' language barriers with their killer mix of English and Japanese tunes, paying  tribute to the golden era of '50s and '60s American rock, '60s British rock, and Japanese Showa music, all while channelling the raw, rebellious energy of '70s punk.
