After insane Australian tours in 2023 and early 2025, Tokyo's Guitar Wolf returns to Australia in March along with a new album, “MOREJET!”
Starting in erstern Australia, the run takes in the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, Sydney and Wollongong, and Bendigo, Castlemaine, Melbourne, and Balnarring. Supports include Alien Nosejob, Split System and Itchy & the Nits with more to be announced,
“MORE JET!” is Guitar Wolf's first new album in seven years and will be released locally on Sorcerer Records . It's preceded by the first single "9pm Pornomag Planet", which is available now from the band's Bandcamp page.
Since forming in 1987 releasing their first album on Memphis's legendary Goner Records five years later, the band fronted by the heroic Seiji has taken its wild and dangerous sound to the world, working with labels like Matador and Third Man in the process. Guitar Wolf has released a dozen albums and is signed to a major label at home in Japan.
Inspired by the ultra-violent records of '50s guitar wielding maniac Link Wray as well as motorcycles, the Ramones, Johnny Thunders, the Cramps and Joan Jett, Seiji has called the band's sound “Jet Rock'n'Roll”.
It has nothing to do with Joan. As explained in an interview in 2012, "I love jet plane. I love noisy music, too. So...there were records...many records...every record have no big sounds. So...easy to listen. I hate that! So! I add jet sounds. Bwaaaahng! Explosion!"
When asked by the same interviewer who came up with the term Jet Rock, Seiji replied, "Me. Yeah, yeah. So we are #1 Japanese Jet Rock Band".
