“Black Speakers”, the new single for Perth’s retro rocking and extremely potent Datura4, the current vehicle for The Stems leader Dom Mariani, is making its world debut here, and the new album is not far away.

“Black Speakers” was preceded by the dark and heavy blues-based thumper "Secret Society" and "Going Back To Hoonsville" (the non-LP version of which features Perth blues Legend Dave Hole on slide guitar) and "Open The Line".

"Open The Line" was chosen as "The Coolest Song in the World" by Stevie Van Zandt aka Little Steven on his influential and much-loved rock'n'roll radio channel on SiriusXM, “The Underground Garage”.  Dom, who is a long-time favourite of Stevie's, was also interviewed on the channel on their weekly "Coolest Conversations" spot.  

The "Neanderthal Jam" album is the band's fifth long-player and will be out on US label Alive/ Records on August 26. It will be distributed in Australia by MGM. You can pre-order splatter vinyl from the US here.

It’s 40 years since Sydney mod band Division 4 released their “On The Beat” EP, and to celebrate they have got together to record a new single “Let Her Go”.Division 4 are Kieren Fitzpatrick (ex-Love Minus Zero) on guitar and vocals, Brad Fitzpatrick (ex-Bam Balams, Gigantic and Rob Younger’s ‘60s band Nanker Phelge) on lead guitar, Mark Jago (ex-Stig Can’t Clap) on bass and vocals, and David Rowley (ex-Jump Vision and Watusi Now) on drums who replaces original drummer Joe Genoa. The new single was written by Kieren and Mark. Mark also mixed and produced the song and directed and edited the video.

Swamp garage master and multimedia artist Tav Falco and his band Panther Burns have announced dates for a summer American tour. The "Rogue Male" tour will run from August through October and include favorites from throughout Panther Burns' four decades of recordings.

The man who started his musical career playing alongside Box Tops/Big Star frontman Alex Chilton in the first line-up of Panther Burns in 1979 lived in Australia in the ‘80s and more recently has been domiciled in Europe. . In January, he relocated to Bangkok, Thailand.

Falco is the only comnstant member of Panther Burns and has recorded 14 studio albums and dozens of singles for such legendary labels as Rough Trade and New Rose, and been cited as an influence by Primal Scream, The Fall, and Spiritualized. 

Falco's Italian band played on the most recent addition to Falco's discography, last November's “Club Car Zodiac” EP, which was released for Record Store Day by ORG Music. Its five tracks include a cover of  "House of the Rising Sun" and the same musicians - producer/guitarist Mario Monterosso, bassist Giuseppe Sangirardi, and drummer Walter Brunetti - will appear on the following live dates:

The year was 2010, Sydney-born Simon Chainsaw had been living in Brazil for about 10 years.

His local band S.C.H.K. (Simon Chainsaw & the Hippy Killers) had recently broken up. Now a free agent, he could take up opportunities to play in different territories. 

He’d recently toured Brazil, Europe and Argentina and released “Fuck The Neighbours!” (cover versions of ‘70s Aussie Punk) and a proposal came in to play back in his home turf of Australia to promote the new disc.

He hooked up with three original ‘70s Aussie punks for the shows: Chris Masuak (Radio Birdman, Hitmen, Screaming Tribesmen) on guitar, Murray Shepherd (Fun Things,Screaming Tribesmen, Hitmen and The Monarchs) on drums and Bob Short (from arguably Sydney’s first punk band Filth and later Dead Rabids) switching from customary guitar to bass.
