1. The Saints Live at Pig City
This is one hell of an album .I am a big Chris Bailey fan and I am pleased to be able to report that The Screaming Tribesmen played with Chris Bailey's Saints (not the original ones) many times back in the day. I feel he is very underrated as a singer although he is well celebrated as a front man/entertainer. You just can't keep a good melody down and Chris Bailey can sing a melody that's for sure. I really miss him.
2. Revelation EP by Los Revelators
This is a terrific recording featuring my long term partner in crime Chris Klondike Masuak. Some great guitar playing here and I love the keyboards too.
3. The Human League, Fortitude Music Hall, Wednesday March 6
This was a great concert. The night took me back to my late teens and early 20's which were happy times in my life.
4. Dave Graney and Clare Moore, The Bearded Lady, Brisbane, Thursday May 30
I enjoyed this show even more than Human League. It is no secret that Dave Graney is this country's Premier Entertainer and Clare Moore is a wonderful drummer . They were also helped out by our friend Adele Pickvance.
5. Party of the Year
Our band was meant to play at Kylie Lovejoy's Birthday Party but Ursula ended up being sick and so I had to throw a short set together with Stuart and Lois. I dubbed us ''The Happy Drivers''. It went well and it was a joy to see some old friends.
6. The Mick Medew and Ursula 4 Debut Show, Saturday August 17 at It's Still a Secret in Brisbane
It was a cracker , one of the best shows I have ever played . Thanks to our friends The Melancholics
7. "In the Zone" album is released Friday November 1
A big thanks to our label and Craig Barman. We managed to sneak in a show at The PFR Lounge in Fortitude Valley, a great little club ran by Robert Anderson from 4ZZZ . Our mates The Glycereens, who released a fabulous album "Glycotherapy" this year. played with us and our friends Gen Jones opened.
8. Radio 4ZZZ in Brisbane
We love 4ZZZ. Thank you for making us number-one and a big thanks to all the community radio stations around the country and overseas for supporting our album and for all the great work they do in making our community's better places to live in.
9. Album Launch at It's Still a Secret , Saturday November 16
Cracker of a day despite the heavy rain (what is it about us and the weather ?) Lovejoy Surf were brilliant as always. The rain was just a taste compared to what happened at our show In Lismore three weeks later.
10. My Friends and The Collie Family
I am very lucky to be around people who genuinely care about me.I have learnt a lot from you in recent years and get to participate in things that are good. I have not always been a good person; being involved in music can sometimes make some people a bit self absorbed and selfish . At times I have been one of those people. These days I am pleased to be able to report that I think I am improving and a lot of that is down to the people around me
I also like being able to say that I have a record label.
I hope that all of you have a Merry Christmas and I wish you all the best for the year that is approaching. X
