  • miss-murderer-smBest known as front man and main man of the original purist '60s garage revivalists, Greg Prevost has always been one contrary mofo. If it wasn't enough to go all '1966' in the height of the immediate post-punk era (the Chesterfield Kings first started in '78), then going Dolls/Hollywood Brats-style glam just as 1966 was back in style – as the Chesterfield Kings did with their mighty 'Berlin Wall of Sound' album at the height of the garage revival in the late '80s – should tell you plenty about Greg's desire to go against the grain, even if that grain was the so-called alternative in the first place.

Among the bands leading the great garage rock charge backwards in the 1980s, perhaps The Chesterfield Kings stood tallest.

  • empty heratsA while ago a mate gave me the thumbs up about Blondie Drummer Clem Burke's new band Empty Hearts. I figured anything Burke's involved in is gonna be top shelf stuff - and how right I was this time.

The Hearts formed in early 2014 as a supergroup of sorts, comprising Chesterfield Kings bassman  Andy Babuik, Elliott Easton (The Cars) on guitar, Burke and Wally Palmer (The Romantics) out front on vocals.

"90 Miles Down a Dead End Street" kicks things off at a frenetic pace with some focussed intent, lots of “na na na's added in. Easton's killer riff helps blast-off single "I Don't Want Your Love" off. A chorus you only dream about follows.
