No life is complete without “City Slang” spinning on the turntable. This release is a 45 so we can give it a place on the jukebox as well.
Both of us have probably lost count how many re-issues (official and otherwise) there have been of the fabled “City Slang” and most have opted to plonk the stereo version on one side with the mono cut on the other. That’s the historical version of the single but history’s there to be re-written. Putting “Electrophonic” on the B side makes perfect sense.
The re-mastering job? There’s not much difference to these ears except for some extra brightness that makes Sonic’s artfully mumbled lyrics a little more transparent.
This is a Record Store Day special so hassle your bricks-and-mortar to make sure they stock it. It's probable that some copies will find their way online eventually but it would't be wise to sit back and do nothing.
